  A soft edged portrait

Although the original image had only faults, the composition has been improved by isolating the centre of the image with a soft edge white background

Tools used:
Lasso or polygon selection tool with a 40 or 50 pixel soft edge
Copy and paste into a new image with a white background the same dimensions as the original.

 
  Dramatic Sky

The sky has been replaced with detail from a second image to increase the drama!

Tools used:
Magic wand tool to create a selection
Detail from a second image of the sky taken as a selection then pasted into the first selection
N.B. The second image may require colour adjustment to match the first image

 
  Dodge and Burn

This image has had exposure corrected by using Dodge and Burn tools and detail enhanced by cloning and the sharpen tool. See relevant handout for more details
